![]() Isla Mujeres, Island of Women, is located due east off the Yucatan Peninsula, 8 miles across the Bay of Mujeres from Cancun. The island is 4.3 miles long and 2,100 feet wide. Surrounded by many coral reefs, it is popular for its snorkeling and scuba diving. Isla Mujeres is also home to a population of sea turtles. A facility, that is open to the public, on the southern end of the island was set up for rehabilitation and breeding. Isla Mujeres is a privileged place with a unique natural and cultural wealth in Mexico.
